Question on purchasing a Chromebox in the UK.

Question on purchasing a Chromebox in the UK. *Apologies if I've missed something obvious! Here in the UK if you follow the link via Google for a Chromebox [ http://www.google.com/intl/en/chrome/devices/chromebox.html ] You are presented with 3 x online stores to purchase them from: Amazon.co.uk ; Currys PC World ; Very Yet only Amazon has them listed/searchable - and sold by a 3rd party (with only one in stock!). So... what's the deal with these Chromeboxes? Are they something one needs to purchase as a business rather than a consumer? notes: I have seen the rumours from earlier in the Summer about Samsung getting out of desktops - but I believe that was refuted. I have an SARMsung Chromebook and am looking at buying a Chromebox to try out for business purposes. http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00A778HLK/ref=s9_simh_gw_p147_d0_i1?pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=02WPAYFKQSXES516W3TV&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=418445227&pf_rd_i=468294

Even as the web scintillates in a rainbow of colours, digital fonts persist in a monochromatic past resembling the long-gone era of wood and metal type. This may at last be about to change. A new standard, backed by Microsoft and incorporated into its Windows 8.1 release, will allow true, infinitely resizeable multicoloured type on the internet http://econ.st/1av9ytR

Lauren Weinstein's Blog: Microsoft's Bizarre Anti-Google "Scroogled" Campaign Jumps the Shark -- Again!

Microsoft's Bizarre Anti-Google "Scroogled" Campaign Jumps the Shark -- Again! http://lauren.vortex.com/archive/001068.html I know some great people up at Microsoft, including top-notch software engineers.  And these days -- more and more -- I find myself feeling sorry for them. I don't believe it's my place to ask them how embarrassed and humiliated they've become working for a once great firm that increasingly is sinking to tactics that one would ordinarily associate with Tea Party wacko campaigns. Yet, Microsoft's increasingly bizarre, anti-Google "Scroogled" campaign is doing exactly that, and while we thought Microsoft had "jumped the shark" in the past, their new chapter is even more strange and inexplicable.  In fact, when I mentioned this to a few people this morning, I got responses back suggesting that perhaps the new campaign hadn't really been approved, or that the site had been hacked.  One person told me they did a WHO...

Why you shouldn't ask for suggestions on Twitter if you're a terrorist group.

Image
Why you shouldn't ask for suggestions on Twitter if you're a terrorist group.   Al-Qadea asked for suggestions on Twitter about the "development of jihadist media" triggered a highly predictable avalanche of snark.  One helpful user tweeted a suggestion for "Al-Qaeda, the movie: Dude, where's my car bomb" Another suggested: "More cats in online video releases." Anyway, the Twitter trolling of Al Qaeda continues. Here's the hashtag, currently trending on Twitter: http://goo.gl/IQhKHP #alqaeda

Though this is not specific to Chrome OS, I thought it was important to share. There is a significant amount of misinformation circulating with regards to Google's June class-action lawsuit filing, and its implications concerning GMail privacy. The Verge has done an excellent job of clearing up the situation.

Google+ for Android: 5 updates you’ve been asking for

Image
Google+ for Android: 5 updates you’ve been asking for Google+ gets better when we build it together, so today's new Android app (v4.1) includes a number of highly-requested improvements. In particular: 1. Account and page switching is a lot easier Just like Gmail for Android, you can now switch between multiple Google+ accounts with a couple of taps (vs. signing out and signing in again). And the Google+ pages you manage are likewise in the app menu at all times. 2. Google Apps for Business features are now fully supported If your Apps administrator has enabled Google+, you can now share content publicly, with your circles, and/or with just the people in your organization. In addition: you’ll know at a glance whether someone’s profile is part of your Apps domain. 3. Google Drive photos & videos are now accessible from Google+ If you're storing photos or videos in Google Drive, you now have the option to view and share them from Google+ (on Android, and the web). Drive photo...
