I've seen this influentialalbums.com site/quiz about a dozen times on FB... yet nobody knows who's behind it.

Some have suggested it's by Amazon - but I think that's because they were the adverts they were (personally) served.
The domain is registered privately (secretly) and there's nothing on the site to explain who's behind it.
There's lot's of complaints about "missing albums"... Call me cynical but I think they will have "designed in controversy" in order to "maximise engagement" and promote conversation.
It seems to be working.. and (I expect, am I wrong?) all those FB users will be leaking their (and their friends' data) to the secret people who set it up.
*Note: I know it doesn't matter and that FB users are very careful at protecting their personal information using the powerful and transparent privacy settings on FB.
