The Chinese government posts about 488 million propaganda messages on social media each year That's about the same number of total messages posted on Twitter by all users combined. Three scholars ran the first systematic study of China’s 50-cent-army (online propaganda workers), which posts tirelessly to paint a positive image of the Chinese government and Chinese Communist Party. The big shocker in this report is that instead of using mostly freelance propagandists, as previously believed, the Chinese government has got workers at Chinese government agencies posting many of the messages. They also found a lot of coordination and control of the posts, representing government information campaigns. About one of every 178 social media posts on China’s microblogs is government propaganda presented as an ordinary citizen's opinion. http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2016-05-19/china-seen-faking-488-million-internet-posts-to-divert-criticism http://www.eweek.com/cloud/how-china...
