Nuclear weapons? No Thanks. I love this succinct and sane commentary on the Trident Vote from Caroline Lucas (@CarolineLucas).

Nuclear weapons? No Thanks. I love this succinct and sane commentary on the Trident Vote from Caroline Lucas (@CarolineLucas).

The headline is a bit off topic but the arguments are simple and obvious.

- Weapons of mass destruction are immoral
- Trident would be unusable (as a defence: it's already too late; as an attack: unthinkable)
- Pop the bubble of illusion (deluision) that the UK developing another generation of Nukes somehow makes the world a safer place
- It's unaffordable/we have better things to invest in (conventional forces and their kit & homelife; services we can all use like housing, healthcare, education)
- We should ensure we protect the jobs and regions of those currently relying on building weapons of mass destruction and have them build something useful instead
