Lots of talk today about how many Android devices are running "outdated software." As usual, it ignores a key point about how software updates actually work on Android.

For the zillionth time, yes, OS updates on Android are a mess. But OS updates on Android aren't everything.

And guess what? Thinking about only half the story gives you an incomplete picture of what's actually happening.
