Where Countries Are Tinderboxes and Facebook Is a Match - New York Times

Same problem here in the UK although so far not as widespread/extreme.
I think the splits & divides were always there, social media has simply exposed it & tougher economic times exacerbated it.

When times get tough, people find their tribe & defend what's theirs (from other tribes).
Exciting times for would-be fascists!
