Subsurface 3.0 has been released

Subsurface 3.0 has been released The Subsurface developer team is proud to announce the release of the latest version of Subsurface. Subsurface is an open source divelog program that runs on Windows, Mac and Linux. With Subsurface the user can download dive information directly from a large number of supported dive computers. Subsurface is able to track single- and multi-tank dives using air, Nitrox or TriMix. It displays a dive profile with all related information, including air consumption and alarms. It also allows logging of information like weights and exposure protection used, dive masters and dive buddies and enables the user to rate dives and provide additional dive notes. With Subsurface the user can track dive locations including GPS coordinates (which can also be conveniently entered using a map interface). Subsurface calculates a wide variety of statistics of the user's diving and keeps track of information like the user's SAC rate, partial pressures of O2, N2 and H...

Who else is enjoying Elementary?

Image
Who else is enjoying Elementary? I'm a huge fan of Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes series, and have read every story several times. As a result of my fandom, I've found the old black-and-white movies boring as f**k, and have a reaction of generalized nausea for Guy Richie's hideous kung fu fantasy supposedly related in some way to the Sherlock Holmes stories. As both a geek and a Holmes fan, I enjoyed the BBC series (of which far too few episodes were produced) staring the annoying but vaguely appealing Benedict Cumberbatch set in modern-day London. But the CBS version of Sherlock Holmes, called Elementary, is the best ever, in my opinion. It's based in modern New York City and Watson is a woman played appealingly by Lucy Liu. Holmes, played brilliantly by Jonny Lee Miller, is a recovering drug addict recently moved from London to New York, who plays the part with an incredible lack of self consciousness. (Note that the original Sherlock Holmes was a drug add...

The The Guardian hits 1m followers on G+

The The Guardian  hits 1m followers on G+  or Alt headline "G+ NOT a ghost town" From a comment I made on that post: Congratulations. Now - start USING G+ to do something interesting! you should watch what +Channel 4 News are doing. They are actually posting serious news stories and using (unique G+) features like Hangouts to do something different/more here. From following the Guardian here it feels like they let the "C team"/interns have a play here because it's not important. yesterday you even posted an advert for Zurich Life here (FFS!). Come on The Guardian  up your game! Now you realised the FB reader/platform thing experiment was daft you should be embracing the openness of G+ and the community you are beginning to build here. https://plus.google.com/113000071431138202574/posts/Qzqju1gDos1

Are you doing the Harlem Shake? Over the last few days a crazy new viral trend has been spreading across the web and it’s starting to bubble up to the surface as all good internet memes do. I've been digging through YouTube for the the origins of the meme, which began as a dorm room mess around that evolved into the 30 second format that now forms the template for all Harlem Shake videos since. I've also embedded a couple of my favourites for your viewing pleasure: http://goo.gl/73dYO If you haven't seem this yet, it's well worth a look, just don't blame me if you loss an hour watching a bunch of them! :D #HarlemShake   #Meme   #LOL   #ViralMedia
